Columbia, Mon.- The Memphis women’s tennis team drew a 4-2 win over Missouri Friday in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, and suffered a weekend split after losing 4-1 to Iowa State on Saturday.
On Friday, Memphis (1-7) lost the colon, but got the first three single points behind Aran Teixido Garcia, Sophie Abrams, and Alisha Reayer. Missouri picked up a point from third position, but Memphis’ Katherine Cao The match won 6-1, 6-2 against Missouri Serena Nash.
“This was a great day for the girls,” said the Memphis head coach Hayden Perez said. “I’m happy for them. They played hard and were ready for the difficult moments in the game. I’m proud of our team spirit and our good attitude and they deserve this win.”
Abrams took Memphis’ (1-8) only point in Saturday’s game against Iowa State and fought back after losing the first set to win the next two, 6-2 and 6-1. Teixido Garcia and Laura Bente their opponents fought in three sets.
