Track and Field Finishes Up Indoor Regular Season with 24 Top-10 Performances

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis track and field ended their indoor regular season meets Friday with two separate competitions.
 
Some Tigers competed in the Redhawks Open in Cape Girardeau, Mo., while others traveled to the Arkansas Qualifier in Fayetteville, Ark. Several athletes, including all distance runners, did not compete in order to rest before the American Athletic Conference Championship next weekend.
 
After a competitive meet the previous weekend, several Tigers had successful performances in their events Friday. 
 
At the Redhawks Open, Robby Watson placed second in the men’s weight throw with a new personal best of 21.21m. His previous record was 19.75m from the same meet in 2019. He still holds second place in the conference for the event. 
 
Junior Alyssa Morello also places second in the conference with her eighth-place finish at the Arkansas Qualifier. In a deep field, she recorded a new collegiate personal best (4.01m).
 
Overall, the team had a combined 24 top-10 finishes at the two meets. Many of these performances put athletes at high rankings entering the AAC Indoor Championship next weekend. The Tigers will travel to Birmingham for competition Friday and Saturday.
